INDIANAPOLIS – Sage Karam, Will Power and Simona De Silvestro made the starting lineup for the 105th Indianapolis 500 during Sunday’s Last Row Shootout at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Meantime, Charlie Kimball and RC Enerson are heading home after failing to go fast enough to make the Field of 33.
The five drivers outside of the top 30 qualified for the final three positions, which makes up Row 11 of the grid. Karam’s No. 24 Chevrolet turned a four-lap average of 229.156 mph. On Saturday, his four-lap average was 229.158 mph, so both laps were remarkably consistent for the Dreyer & Reinbold driver.
Team Penske star Will Power, the 2018 Indy 500 winner, placed his No. 12 Chevrolet 32nd after a four-lap average of 228.876 mph despite kissing the wall off turn two in the latter stages of his lone qualifying attempt.
Then, Simona De Silvestro was able to hold off two more qualification attempts from Enerson and Kimball to make the field after she ran a four-lap average of 228.353 mph in the No. 16 Chevrolet for Paretta Autosport, the team owned by Beth Paretta using a car provided by Team Penske.
Kimball made two qualification attempts and was too slow in the No. 11 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet. Enerson was the slowest driver all month with the underdog Top Gun Racing team and his No. 75 entry was also not fast enough to make the race.
