Heavy Rain Cancels WoO LM Dairyland Showdown

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. — Heavy rain has led World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model and Mississippi Thunder Speedway officials to cancel’s the third annual Dairyland Showdown.

Late Friday afternoon, officials made the call to cancel Friday’s slate of events, but as the rain intensified and local weather authorities were consulted, a decision was made to cancel the remainder of the Dairyland Showdown ahead of any dangerous conditions.

A new plan to race in the region later in the season has been introduced.

Following the huge Quad City 150 on Aug. 24-26 at Davenport Speedway, the series will return to Mississippi Thunder Speedway for back-to-back nights — Thursday, Aug. 31, for $10,000-to-win and Friday, Sept. 1, for $20,000-to-win. Then, the Outlaws will head to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., on Saturday, Sept. 2, for another $20,000-to-win event.

“The Dairyland Showdown is a fan-favorite event at a facility our competitors enjoy, as well,” said series director Steve Francis. “This heavy storm is just preventing us from being able to race this weekend, but fortunately working with everyone at Mississippi Thunder and at Deer Creek we are able to put together a new set of races leading into Labor Day that will be spectacular.”

Tickets will be refunded through MyRacePass.
