Sydney Speedway Announces Triple Crown

SYDNEY, N.S. – Sydney Speedway unveiled a Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown that will tie in the trio of sportsman races at the quarter-mile bullring in 2022.

The Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown will begin on Saturday, May 28 with a 100-lap feature, continuing on Saturday, August 6 with the AutoWorld Maritime Allstar Sportsman Series (MASS) Robby’s Towing 100, and conclude on Saturday, October 1 with the annual Season Finale Sportsman 100.

The three races will look to build on the success from the “Soft Launch” event held in October 2021 at the Sydney, Nova Scotia oval.

Each race will pay a minimum of $1,000-to-win. While the payout for the AutoWorld MASS race has yet to be announced by Series officials, the May 28 and October 1 races produced by Sydney Speedway will pay a minimum of $75 to start with tow money being offered for teams travelling from beyond Truro, Nova Scotia to those two races.

As an added bonus, points will be kept for the three races and the best driver over the three race series will receive a $1,000 bonus. Second in points will receive an added $500 and third will pocket $250. These three bonuses are above and beyond individual race pays and are available to the top three drivers who compete in all three races.

The final bonus will be available to a driver if he or she sweeps all three races. Should a driver win all three feature events in the Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown, they will receive an additional $1,000. If a driver takes the checkered flag first in all three races, their total in winnings would be a minimum of $5,000 before any additional contingency awards, purse increases or tow money.
