LAS VEGAS — Bobby Pierce broke the bank Saturday night at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas.
The second-generation late model racer earned $100,000 after winning the Duel in the Desert at the state-of-the-art dirt track.
He claimed $50,000 for winning the 77-lap feature and another $50,000 for claiming the Karl Chevrolet Double Down Triple Crown. The bonus was offered to the four drivers who competed in XR-promoted events at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.
Pierce started seventh and grabbed the lead from polesitter Ricky Thornton Jr. on lap 55. He led the rest of the way.
Josh Richards finished second, with Thornton, Billy Moyer and Johnny Scott rounding out the top five.
