BRASSTOWN, N.C. — Jimmy Owens won Thursday night’s Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals dirt late model feature at Tri-County Racetrack.
Fifth-starting Owens took the lead from Donald McIntosh on lap 18 and led the remainder of the 40-lap event to earn the $7,553 triumph and extend his series point lead.
Ricky Weiss came on strong to finish second, with McIntosh, Carson Ferguson and Dale McDowell rounding out the top five.
Weiss was the fast qualifier for the 28-car field with a 12.216-second lap.
