MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Fast qualifier Jimmy Owens led from start to finish during Saturday’s Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals event at Smoky Mountain Speedway to earn a $10,053 payday.
It wasn’t a cake walk for Owens, who had to hold off a determined Brandon Overton in the later stages of the 53-lap event. Overton ended up just more than half a second short at the checkered flag. Owens lapped all but four competitors during the event.
Dale McDowell finished third, followed by Mike Marlar and Donald McIntosh.
