EASTABOGA, Ala. — Pierce McCarter set the pace during qualifying Friday night for the 31st annual Ice Bowl at the Talladega Short Track.
McCarter set the fastest lap for the 30 super late model competitors with a lap of 14.756 seconds on the quarter-mile dirt track. McCarter won the third of four heat races.
Other heat race winners were Austin Horton, Christian Hanger and Michael Page.
Cory Hedgecock topped the 45-car Crate Racing USA crate late model field with a 14.194-second lap. Heat winners were Hedgecock, Sawyer Crigler, Ty Giles and Jake Knowles.
Booger Brooks was the fast qualifier for the 60 602 late model sportsman entries on hand.
Sportsmen, modifieds, factory stocks, hot shots and street stocks are also in competition during the three-day event, bringing the total car count to 353.
