Iron-Man Southern Slate Features 22 Events

SOMERSET, Ky. – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series is gearing up for what will be the biggest season in tour history next year.

The preliminary schedule for next season has been released, and although the current season isn’t complete, preparations for the next season are in full swing.

A busy slate of 22 confirmed dates, two unconfirmed events, increased purses and an increased points fund have already put an exclamation point on the upcoming season.

Each race will pay a minimum of $5,000-to-win with $450-to-start. The points fund has also been increased to a record $12,000 for the series champion and paying through the top-five positions at the end of the season. The schedule features purses and points money in excess of $600,000. The schedule also features at least seven five-figure paydays. The schedule features eight different race tracks in Kentucky, Tennessee, Northern Georgia and Southern Indiana.

The series will begin on Jan. 19 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga., for the 14th Annual Cabin Fever Race paying $5,000-to-win during the non-points event. The first points race will be April 9 at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn., during the 18th annual Iron-Man Classic, which moves to I-75 Raceway for the first time.

The season finale will again be at Mitch McCarter’s 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn., on Saturday Nov. 26 during the Seventh Annual Leftover Race paying $5,000-to-win. Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky., Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway, Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky., Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway and Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, Tenn., all return to the schedule.
