BOONE, Iowa – The IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s is getting bigger and better, with both STARS Mod Lites and the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational for Stock Cars added to the schedule for the 39th annual event.
By dividing Boone Speedway’s Prelude special into two days, STARS Mod Lites will crown the first champion of Super Nationals on Sunday, Sept. 5. Group time trials for Stock Car drivers eligible to qualify will be Wednesday, Sept. 8 with the inaugural All-Star Invitational Thursday, Sept. 9.
“Every Super Nationals is unique. The weekly format of qualifying and main events remains familiar,” said IMCA President Brett Root, “while both the STARS Mod Lites and the All-Star Invitational for Stock Cars will add to what is already the premier event in dirt track racing.”
Mod Lites in their first night of qualifying join complete programs for Modifieds and Stock Cars on the Saturday, Sept. 4 Prelude card. IMCA’s newest division completes its first Super Nationals showing with a second night of qualifying and the main event while Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods and Sport Compacts run complete shows on Sunday, night two of the Prelude.
The third annual cornhole tournament sponsored by Wehrs Machine Scorezit brand and pit party bookend the Sunday race program. Both the Prelude and Super Nationals will be broadcast by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate IMCA.TV.
“More than 400 cars ran at the Prelude on the Saturday night before Super Nationals last year. That’s a lot of cars for a one-night special,” stated Root. “That, and the inclusion of the STARS Mod Lites, figured in our decision to split the Prelude into two days.”
Non-competing divisions, he added, will be allowed to hot lap at the Prelude.
Late Models headline the Labor Day show, with Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod qualifying beginning Monday. Sport Compacts return and qualifying continues Tuesday for the Hobbies and SportMods.
Wednesday is the first of three straight days of qualifying for Modifieds and Stock Cars, plus last-chance features for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods and Stock Car All-Star time trials.
The B & B Chassis Stock Car All-Star Invitational is Thursday while the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for Modifieds anchors its traditional Friday time slot.
Super Nationals concludes Saturday, Sept. 11 with last-chance qualifying for Modifieds and Stock Cars, race of champions events and main events for Hobby Stocks, SportMods, Stock Cars and Modifieds.
“It’s always a challenge to hold an event like Super Nationals with so many hundreds of drivers and thousands of fans coming from so many different parts of the country,” Root said. “We’re continuing to work on the week-long schedule and logistical issues, including everything from pit parking to camping, and will make those announcements when details are finalized.”
