FAIRBURY, Ill. – Frank Heckenast Jr. wasn’t going to be denied Thursday evening at Fairbury Speedway.
Heckenast used a slide job with three laps left to steal the lead away from Shannon Babb and win the Thursday Night Shootout super late model feature, earning $5,000. The event shared the card with the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars.
Babb took the lead on the ninth circuit and dominated most of the race, only for Heckenast to slip past him with a few laps left. Babb settled for second.
Eric Smith was third, followed by Ryan Unzicker and Kevin Weaver.
