BOONE, Iowa – Even bigger. Even better.
More than 780 pre-entries are already in hand for the 39th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s Sept. 6-11 and drivers and fans from across the country and Canada have, as always, much to look forward to during the week at Boone Speedway.
“We’ve already put a lot of thought into, and done a lot of work in making this year’s Super Nationals the best yet,” said IMCA President Brett Root, ticking off the list of physical improvements already completed at the speedway. “But at the end of the day what makes this event is the race track itself. It’s the track we give them, the ability crews have to adapt to it and just the quality of racing.”
Another 100 reserved pit stalls, some including electricity and water, in the VIP area and new concrete stalls in the south parking area were quickly spoken for. An additional exit road east from the track allows race cars to exit into the north or south pit area.
There’s also a new concrete inspection pad in the tech area in the pits and a new spectator walkway in the south pit area.
All interior fencing in the pit area has been removed, making it easier to get from one hauler to another, and a growing Manufacturers’ Row will again be located on the northeast side of the speedway grounds.
Cody Hicks will perform following both Sept. 4 and 5 Prelude race programs. Accordingly, the size of the registration tent has been adjusted to accommodate the band setting up on stage both evenings.
“Super Nationals just continues to grow in so many ways,” Root said. “We have added STARS Mod Lites this year and already have nearly 50 drivers in that division pre-registered. That’s outstanding, especially when you look at how many different states they’re coming from.”
“We’ve added the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational for Stock Cars,” he added, “and will have solid numbers for their inaugural group qualifying event.”
A second Scorezit-sponsored cornhole tournament was added, with 64 two-person teams on Sunday, Sept. 5 and 48 two-person teams taking aim on Friday, Sept. 10.
The fan favorite Jumbotron returns to turn four and fans that can’t be at Boone Speedway in person can watch every lap of both the Prelude and the complete week of Super Nationals via SPEED SPORT TV affiliate IMCA.TV.
“IMCA.TV has expanded their production crew and is bringing some of the best equipment money can buy to broadcast this event,” Root stated.
America’s Racin’ Vacation will also be the best paying event of the season as Super Nationals drivers will earn shares of more than $300,000 in purse money with another $60,000-plus in contingencies to be awarded.
The STARS Mod Lite champion, to be crowned Sunday, Sept. 5, day two of the Prelude, earns $2,000 along with the division’s first Super Nationals title.
Champion of the Late Model main event on Labor Day earns $3,000 with the Sept. 7 Sport Compact champion taking home a $1,000 check.
The Sept. 9 B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational and Sept. 10 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for Modifieds both pay $1,000 to win.
Saturday, Sept. 11 main events pay $7,000 to the Modified champion, $5,000 to the Stock Car champion, $3,000 to the Northern SportMod champion and $2,000 to the Hobby Stock champion. The Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions for Modifieds pays $1,000 to win, the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions for Stock Cars $500 and both the BSB Manufacturing Race of Champions for Northern SportMods and Stephenville Starter Race of Champions for Hobby Stocks $300.
Racing starts at 5 p.m. for both days of the Prelude and at 2 p.m. each day of Super Nationals. Daily race schedules are posted on the imca.com and raceboone.com websites.
Reserved seating for Super Nationals can be purchased online with general admission tickets sold at the gate.
