BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – Dirt late model star Jonathan Davenport will sit out the trio of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events this weekend at Brownstown Speedway after testing positive for COVID-19.
The news was revealed via a post on Davenport’s official Facebook page.Â
Davenport, who recently won the World 100 at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway for the fourth time, is currently third in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings. Entering the weekend he is 375 points behind championship leader Tim McCreadie. He has 21 victories this year spread across multiple sanctioning bodies.Â
Davenport later confirmed on Twitter that two members of his crew tested positive for COVID-19, leading him to get tested.Â
2 guys on my crew get to feeling sick they both went and tested positive for coivd so the rest of the crew got tested also & I tested positive. Even tho I feel fine we have decided to sit out this weekend. I’d feel selfish and terrible to race & get someone else sick.
