Sheppard Tops Battle Of The Bullring

ACCORD, N.Y. — Matt Sheppard won Tuesday night’s Battle of the Bullring 10 for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series at Accord Speedway.

Sheppard started fourth and earned $6,000 for taking the checkered flag ahead of Mat Williamson in the 50-lap main event.

“Thankful to be in victory lane, first time at Accord and we can chalk this one off the list,” Sheppard exclaimed. “Really cool trophy too for the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ and they weren’t kidding it was definitely a battle tonight.”

Sheppard is now two-for-two in River Valley Builders North Region competition in this season after his win in the opener at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y.

Sheppard has notched two wins with the Wegner Automotive ‘Weekend Warrior’ engine as well.

“It (the Wegner Engine) seems to like these tracks that get a little slippery,” Sheppard explained. “It definitely did its job tonight.”

Anthony Perrego finished third, with Rusty Smith and Billy Pauch Jr. rounding out the top five.

Derrick McGrew Jr. topped the companion crate 602 sportsman feature.
