Rain Stops Junghans Memorial

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — What was supposed to be a four-night championship weekend for the Summit USMTS National Championship fueled by Casey’s is now one giant night only following the cancellation of Friday’s Grant Junghans Memorial at the Lakeside Speedway.

Deluged by rainfall over the last 48 hours with a promise of more by local weather experts, officials have determined there is no other option.
USMTS president Todd Staley said that plans are already underway to combine the sixth and seventh annual evens for June 2022 with a goal of no less than $20,000 to win.

With Friday’s rainout, it all comes down to Saturday’s finale when the crowning of the 2021 USMTS national champion will take place after the checkered flag waves at the second annual USMTS Modified Spook-tacular at the 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.

The race winner will pocket no less than $10,030.
