LAFARGEVILLE, N.Y. — With heavy persistent rain in the area and more expected throughout the entire weekend, Super DIRTcar Series, DIRTcar Northeast and Can-Am Speedway officials have canceled Saturday’s portion of the Thunder in the Thousand Islands.
The decision comes after working closely with Meteorologist Wayne Mahar from Precision Weather Service and monitoring the local weather for the past 24 hours.
The Super DIRTcar Series portion of the event will not be made up. However, the DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region event will now run during Can-Am’s 50th Golden Jubilee season opener on Friday, April 26.
Anthony Perrego and Peter Britten enter the Memorial Day Weekend doubleheader tied for the points lead, with defending Thunder Mountain track champion Darren Smith in third (four points back) and 10-time series champion Matt Sheppard in fourth (seven points back).
