CORNWALL, Ont. – David Hebert led 42 of 50 laps to win Friday’s 358 modified main event on night one of Fall Showdown Weekend part of the Canadian Nationals at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Corey Wheeler finished second while Luke Whitteker rounded out the podium. Mario Clair and Kyle Dingwall completed the top five in a 46-car field.
Brad Rouse broke a string of bad luck in his win in the sportsman feature, which started the evening with a 66-car entry list.
Jeff May topped Steve Comeau and Fortier to win the 20-lap mod lite feature.
In the vintage feature, Randy Gaudet outran Josh Powers for the win.
Alexis Charbonneau had a little bit of luck during her mini stock victory. Tommy Bailey took the lead on the final restart but broke on the last lap, yielding the win to Charbonneau, the season’s track champion.
Action resumes Saturday with modifieds, sportsman, pro stock, lightning sprints and mod lites. Pit gates open at 9 a.m. with grandstands opening at 3 p.m.. Racing starts at 5 p.m.
