Friesen Doubles Down In STSS Modifieds

LAKE CITY, Fla. — Stewart Friesen swept a pair of features as the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco kicked off its inaugural Sunshine Swing Friday at All-Tech Raceway.

Rain on Thursday necessitated a doubleheader on Friday.

Friesen claimed the opening 30-lapper for the “Northeast” modified class, beating reigning DIRTcar big-block modified ace Mat Williamson to the checkered flag. Matt Sheppard, Larry Wight and Billy Decker completed the top five.

Michael Ballestro topped the 25-lap Crate 602 Sportsman feature on the Thursday night card.

The story was very much the same in the second full racing program of the day, as Friesen was best in show in the 40-lap modified nightcap, again beating Williamson to the finish line.

Anthony Perrego, Sheppard and Erick Rudolph filled the top five.

Antonio Ballestro won the second sportsman feature of the night.

All three events from All-Tech Raceway are being live streamed. To watch Friday’s races or Saturday’s finale live, check out Dirt Track Digest TV, a SPEED SPORT Network affiliate.
