SOMERSET, Ky. — Officials with the Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series have released the tentative series schedule for next year, which features the largest purses in series history.
The schedule features increased purses for drivers and an increased point fund for the top-10 drivers in series points. All races will now pay a minimum of $1,500-to-win and $150-to-start. The series will also pay the top-10 drivers in the points at the season’s end. The lap counts for $1,500-to-win events will be 25 laps and the entry fee will remain at $40 for all $1,500-to-win events.
The sixth season begins with a doubleheader at Boyd’s Speedway on April 29-30 as the Light it up Blue for Autism weekend with a pair of $1,500-to-win and $150-to-start, 25-lap events each night. The series will return to Boyd’s Speedway for another doubleheader, the Pretty in Pink weekend, on Oct. 14-15 with $1,500-to-win and $3,000-to-win races.
Both weekends will feature John Schneider, famous for his portrayal of Bo Duke on the television show the Dukes of Hazzard, and his wife Alicia as they present Bo’s Extravaganza on the Road during the events. The final trip for the series to Boyd’s Speedway will be Nov. 19 for the running of the 34th annual Gobbler event paying $1,500-to-win.
411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. will be on the schedule hosting the series’ largest events on July 14-16. The third annual Area 51 Weekend will be sanctioned by the Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series. July 14 will feature an open practice, with a $1,500-to-win main event on July 15 and a 51-lap, $5,151-to-win feature on July 16.
The series’ season finale, the seventh annual Leftover Race, will also be held at 411 Motor Speedway on Nov. 26.
Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky., returns to the schedule for three appearances, beginning on May 14 for the Spring Shootout. The series returns July 2 for the Hall of Fame Classic and Sept. 24 for the Fall Cruising Classic. Ponderosa Speedway will return to the schedule on Friday, Aug. 5 for the Pete Abell Memorial. I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn., returns to the schedule on June 11 and July 23.
Additional races could be added to the schedule at a later date.
