All-Star Qualifying Format Set For IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Two rounds of group time trials will fill starting fields for both Modified and Stock Car All-Star Invitationals at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s on Sept. 6-11.

Qualifying for the inaugural B & B Chassis Stock Car All-Star Invitational will be Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Boone Speedway.

Five drivers from the Northern Region and five drivers from the Southern Region advance from the first round; with winners of sanctioned events paying $5,000 or more guaranteed starting spots, the number of at-large qualifiers from round two that evening is yet to be determined.

Qualifying for the 18th annual Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9. Two drivers from each of the five Modified regions advance from round one with another 18 drivers earning at-large berths in round two.

“This will give us a similar qualifying format for both divisions this year and one that we can tweak in the future,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “It’s important to understand that this is group qualifying to make it as fair as possible. Groups will be separated by regions in round one and staggered into groups by round one qualifying times for round two.”

The All-Star Invitational for Stock Cars is on Thursday while the All-Star Invitational for Modifieds remains on Friday. Thirty cars will start each All-Star event with both lineups determined by draw.

Nearly 400 drivers from 24 states are already pre-entered for the 39th annual Super Nationals. The first-ever STARS Mod Lite champion will be crowned on Sunday, Sept. 5, night two of the Prelude.

Late Models get top billing Monday at America’s Racin’ Vacation® with Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod qualifying also beginning on Labor Day. Sport Compacts run their complete program and qualifying continues Tuesday for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods.

Last-chance features for Hobbies and SportMods are on Wednesday, the first of three straight days of Modified and Stock Car qualifying. Last-chance qualifying for Modifieds and Stock Cars, and races of champions and main events for Hobby Stocks, SportMods, Stock Cars and Modifieds bring the curtain down Saturday.

Both the Prelude and Super Nationals will be broadcast by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate IMCA.TV.
